Edgewater eyes savings, OKs merger of utilities

Borough officials gave the green light to a merger of the Edgewater Municipal Utilities Authority and the Bergen County Utilities Authority.
Officials from the BCUA, the EMUA and the borough say the merger will save Edgewater taxpayers $1 million a year for 12 years and Bergen taxpayers $300,000 per year. The savings will come through economies of scale, officials said.
